There is nothing I can add to the post below, from Eulanda's blog, except to thank her from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful tribute to my beloved Mom. Eulanda asked me the other day what my favorite color was. I thought she meant in clothing so I said "blue". She meant overall, so I said "peach". She returned that she did not have peach and would go with blue. Apparently, an old friend was going through the photos in my Facebook albums and turned up a photo of my Mom and me, when I was 3. This put the photo on my Timeline and Eulanda saw it there, and wanted to use it for a card. Please read her blog post below, and be sure to visit her blog and sign up to receive her blog posts by email subscription, so you do not miss a one. Also, despite several tries, I cannot get the text from her blog post to line up correctly on here. Sorry.
While I follow many cardmakers' blogs, I have my favorites and Eulanda is at the head of that list. Her cards speak to my soul (except maybe the darker ones, but I still admire her genius). Please visit her blog to see the entire post and to learn what she used on the card.
Here is the post from her blog: Thank you, my friend, for this honor. I am humbled to call you "friend" and am in awe of your ability.
Cards, Cards and More Cards |
Posted: 23 Aug 2013 04:00 AM PDT This week at Live and Love Crafts our inspiration theme is "Once Upon A Time". I thought about the typical fairy tales and books I've read but decided to go with a real life story after seeing this photo surface on Facebook. It belongs to a friend of mine, Nancy Schaub. (More details further down the post.) She said this picture of her and her mom was taken in 1950. I've used papers from Pion's "Alma's Sewing Room" and hated covering it up but it still looks so pretty. I've distressed everything including the Vintage Box Lacing Chocolate border die. Also added the resin pieces for some texture. Aren't they gorgeous?! I made a shabby chic bow using some seam binding from LLC, added some brown tulle behind the bow and popped a vintage pearl in the center of it. I'm sooooooo excited that LLC is carrying Wild Orchid Crafts flowers now. LOVE THEM!! They go so well with the Kort and Godt rolled flowers that I've added a Melissa Frances pearl to. Oh and don't you just love the bark hearts?!! YES!! Nancy is the little girl here in the picture and has now retired and has kids of her own. She said her mom made the dress in a color she just loved. I think it's soooo super cute!! She is too. What a pretty picture and so inspiring. Nancy loves anything "Once Upon A Time" so I wanted to dedicate this post to her. She's such a lovely lady! I hope I've done her photo justice. I tried to find matching papers for this photo but nothing was working so then I thought, "BLACK and WHITE"... I actually ended up tinting it more of a sepia color but it's kind of hard to tell in my photos. |

How beautiful is that portrait of you and your mother! I love what she did with it.
That is the most beautiful card I have ever seen.. your friend is most talented.
Your mom and you were so beautiful in the picture.
.Love the photo.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Judy, I have to agree with you because of the talent my friend has. She did a fabulous job and I am now trying to figure out how to frame it so that the dimensionality of it is preserved. Eulanda always does the most amazing things with her cards and I was so honored that she thought to do this card using a very special photo.
Such a fabulous gesture and project, you must be delighted. The picture is stunning. You asked about the Spectrum Noir Pencils Nancy. I love them. You may be able to find them at this link:

Your blog is beautiful Nancy! This is the most precious gift. What a treasure! I hope you preserve this to pass on as an heirloom - it's beautiful - as is the portrait of you and your mom!
Nancy , this is so awesome, I love it. I love the photo of your Mom and You. It is so beautiful, what an awesome memory and how beautiful it is all made. Thank you for sharing with me. Hugs, Cathy K
Cathy, I was so honored and surprised when Eulanda asked if she could use my photo for the theme and challenge, and then when she sent it to me, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I treasure it and hope some day to have it framed along with the original photo.
NANCY! I never saw this until now. Awwww I'm so glad you liked it. I was thinking if I came here I would find some more of your projects. Let me know when you take pics of your most recent ones. Hugs! Take care!
